Tyson Fury wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk again, he wants to be the best, says promoter Frank Warren ahead of comeback

Tyson Fury will target his old rival Oleksandr Usyk after his comeback fight, says promoter Frank Warren.

Fury will return to boxing to take on Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 in the UK.

After losing to Usyk twice in 2024, Fury announced his retirement at the start of last year. He has now reversed that and harbours ambitions of becoming a three-time world champion.

Usyk vacated the WBO belt but still holds the unified WBC, IBF and WBA world heavyweight championships. Fury would welcome a trilogy fight with the Ukrainian.

"He wants to be the best. That's how he's always been. He's told me he wants to fight Usyk again," Warren told Your Site News.

"Tyson's a fighting man. He loves it. He goes in the gym and when he gets down to serious training, he wants to see an end result and the end result for him is fighting.

"For me, he doesn't need to fight. He's cemented his legacy. But he is fighting on and he's going to be a great addition to the heavyweight scene. He's a great personality. The crowds come out for him, this is a big, big moment for his career."

Warren added: "If he is going to come back, I'd much rather he do it now than in four or five years' time when his powers will probably be diminished then."

Now Wardley has become the WBO heavyweight titlist, Fury will have other options beyond Usyk.

"That's a good fight. Fabio's boxing at the end of April, early May. We'll be announcing who he's fighting," Warren said.

"This heavyweight division is on fire. It's on fire, there are some great fights there. Moses [Itauma] is out on March 28 against the American, Jermaine Franklin. That's a big, big fight. He's looking to be the next big thing."

Fury must clear the sizeable, 260lb hurdle of April opponent Makhmudov first. "It's a tough, tough comeback fight for me. He's jumped straight back in," Warren reflected.

"He's been out of the ring, by the time this fight comes around, nearly two years. He's made it very clear that this year he wants to fight and wants big fights. And this is a guy that's a big guy, got a good knockout ratio.

"This is a tough comeback fight for him. But if he comes through this we'll see where we go."

Watch Caroline Dubois vs Terri Harper live on Your Site on April 5.
